DVD Tutorial on the way!
Hello to everyone!
Time to get back to posting! Finally!
According to the statistics of this web blog I found out that many visitors are interested into Tutorials and “how to” make the things. Also, quite a lot of you contacted me asking for some help on how to improve their skills. Therefore I decided to share even more of my knowledge and experience with making a DVD.
However, before doing it (although I’ve started working on that already) I though it’s a good idea to ask the visitors what they should be most interested to find in the DVD. Is it that you’re more interested into sketching and how to build the line drawing or more into rendering. Maybe both.
In any case I have decided to put no less than 2-3 VIDEO tutorials on the DVD (not only 1 like the ones you find in the internet). In addition to this I will iclude some detailed step-by-step tutorials you haven’t seen yet and bunch of tips that I am sure will be pretty useful to all interested…
I am opened to any advice/request on what to include in the DVD. I’ll be most grateful if you give me a hand with this in order to create DVD that helps most! Feel free to contact me or post your needs at will.
Cheers,
Miro

I would like to see more of a focus on line drawing, I don’t think there are many tutorials on how sketch, develop great dynamic line quality as there are videos and tutorials on how to render a car. Although, I would love to see a video tutorial on the process you take to create a car rendering (maybe a quick rendering and also a more complete car rendering for presentation?). I think a line drawing DVD tutorial would be a must though, many designers, especially student designers, concentrate too much on developing their rendering skills and not enough on developing their sketching skills. So they eventually achieve a nice rendering without a great design. Maybe show how you develop a sketch —what process do you take when creating and developing your sketches?—maybe show that?

Hello to you guys,
I am very happy you take part in this and post your oppinions on what you want to see in a proper DVD Tutorial. Yes, I will take into a careful consideration all that you say here and make up the best of it. It seems to me in order to prepare the best DVD for you I will have to split it in two parts as one won’t fit it all…I’ll do my thinking on this.
I am looking forward to more ideas. Thank you guys, you’re really helpful!

Might sound stupid but I think seeing a car design project from start to finish would be the best way for people to learn. Maybe start with an overview of the different steps (sketching, coloring, modeling, rendering, prototyping, etc.) then detail each of these steps.
In term of the detailed steps, I’m mostly interested in sketching techniques as well as how to make a 3D model out of these sketches.
I will be following this project closely. Thanks!

Hey!! I think it’s a great idea to make an instructional DVD. There’s a lot of great designers but few of them really want to share their knowledge. Your sketches are incredible, I would really like to know what perspective techniques you use to make them, cause everyone that studies design knows how hard it is to make a good line drawing. Sorry for the bad english and thanks for opening this space for suggestions!!

Hi Miro !
Thanks for your comment on my own blog. Unfortunately, I didn’t post a thing for a long time (since I arrived to the United States). Sometimes lazy, often busy, but I really enjoy this new life. I have some new stuff in my computer so I think about about a big update in 1 or 2 weeks. Concerning the side view on LM.com, it was just a way to work on textures, details… and also have some fun with the P51′ engine pic. So the main lines of my drawing are based on a CAD model. Regarding to the software, I only work on photoshop, but I’d love to try Painter (I heard and saw a lot about)… Maybe soon.
As every time, I enjoyed visiting your blog, and even if this last project is not my favorite one from you, I’m always impressed by the quality of your stuff and all the mediums you master (sketch, markers, tablet, CAD,…). Your idea of a tutorial DVD is a great one. Be sure that I’ll be one of your customers.
Keep it up !
Aurel.

Hi guys,
It is so great to hear you’re waiting for the DVD. Have to admit I didn’t expect so much of people to be interested into learning from me. I was a little held by some business issues for some time and was unable to concentrate on the DVD, also my everyday job is something to be time considerable too.
The great news, however, are that I am right on it. It took me some time to find out how to present the content of the DVD – what to include, because I think of releasing a second DVD some time after the first one and I want to make sure the things are well put together and balanced. How to organize the lessons and what to feature in them..etc. Besides the Video tutorials, there will be also some brand new Step-by-Step tutorials like the ones you see featured here on my blog already. All in all, it is not just one video showing you how to sketch – I am planning to cover systematically both areas in deep – sketching and rendering.
I will publish some more info on the contect soon. I am sure you’ll enjoy it!
yours,
miro

This Blog is very nice. I like your style of digital sketching very much, and other works also as well. In my opinion you are one of the best car designers. I probably starting study in Coventry this year, so I thing that I would as good as you :) Also I am waiting for your DVD, especially to see how you sketch.
Kind Regards,
